Nottingham is a vibrant city full of incredible history, culture and opportunities to explore. To help you get to know your new student home and make the most of your first week, we've put together a handy guide to kickstart your university experience in such a brilliant city!

Day 1: Get to know your campus

As you take your first steps on campus, the first thing you notice is that it is a big place. However, we have made it super easy to find your way with our guide on navigating your way around campus that you can use on the go or before you even step foot into university. Day 2: Take a walk around Old Market Square

As the second-largest public space in the UK (after London's Trafalgar Square), Old Market Square is a must-see. It's a hub for the city's social scene and transport links, so it is definitely worth getting to know. 

Here you can find a wealth of shops, restaurants, bars and regular farmers' markets - not to mention all of the major events and celebrations throughout the year like Nottingham Beach in Summer and the Christmas Winter Wonderland

Day 3: Learn about the history

Known for its role in the Robin Hood legend, the city's rich history doesn't stop there. It has so many historic attractions and sights that you can visit, such as: 

Day 4: Check out the independent food scene

There are so many independent food spots across the city to discover, but Hockley is known for being the 'food and drink capital' of Nottingham, in particular Carlton Street. Day 5: Dive into Nottingham's nightlife

Whether you're into secret cocktail bars or proper traditional pubs, Nottingham has it all. Sit and relax at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem (the oldest inn in England) or dance all night at Rock City, one of the most iconic clubs and music venues in Nottingham with two student nights a week!
