Join ResX and Lakeside Arts for Astitva — meaning “existence” — a powerful and moving dance performance exploring identity, culture, tradition and what it means to be yourself.

Through a vibrant mix of Kathak and contemporary dance, Astitva brings the experiences and stories of British-Indian gay men to the stage, exploring what it can feel like to navigate different cultures, expectations and identities.

Expect incredible movement, powerful storytelling and a thought-provoking performance that explores the spaces where culture, tradition, sexuality and identity intersect.

Whether you're a regular theatre-goer or you've never been to a dance performance before, Astitva offers a chance to experience something unique, relevant and deeply human.

The performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A with Jaivant Patel, giving you the opportunity to hear more about the inspiration behind Astitva, the creative process and the stories explored through the performance.

 ⚠️ Important Booking Information

 Although the session is FREE, places are limited and we want to make sure everyone gets the opportunity to take part.

If you book a place but can no longer attend, you must cancel through UniHub at least 24 hours before the session.

 Failure to cancel within 24 hours, or simply not turning up, will result in a £20 charge.
