In this exciting workshop, discover Batik
Join local Artist: Shamila Chady in this exciting workshop, you’ll be introduced to the art of batik – a traditional and fascinating craft that has been practised for centuries, particularly in Indonesia. Batik uses hot wax and colourful dyes to create bold patterns and detailed designs on fabric. The wax resists the dye, allowing you to layer colours and create unique and eye-catching effects.
You’ll learn about the history and cultural importance of batik, explore different techniques and tools, and be guided step-by-step to design and create your own piece. You’ll have the chance to experiment with colours, patterns and textures, making your artwork completely personal and unique.
This workshop is open to all ResX-supported students and is completely free to attend. Whether you are new to art or already enjoy being creative, this is a great opportunity to learn new skills, try something different and leave with a one-of-a-kind fabric creation to be proud of.
