5 tips to avoid burnout

But still get stuff done during exam season

We know exam season can feel like one long, blurry caffeine-fuelled marathon, but pushing through without looking after yourself is a fast track to burnout.

To help you prioritise your wellbeing during exam season, Rosette shares here top tips on avoiding burnout. Here's how she recommends you stay on top of your studies while looking after yourself:

1. Stick to a sleep schedule

It can be so tempting to cram all of your work in late into the night, but a good night's sleep (7-9 hours a night), will help you feel less stressed and more productive the next day.

Top tip: try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day! Check out these easy ways you can have a better sleep

2. Set a daily finish time

Don't let revision take over your evening. Set a clear cut off time to stop working and actually have some you time or rest – make it non-negotiable.

3. Plan your day (and stick to it)

Spend a few minutes in the morning planning what you want to tackle that day, but make sure to keep it realistic. Having a plan can make big or small tasks feel more manageable, plus ticking tasks off your list can be sooo satisfying.

4. Take breaks

Having breaks in between study sessions are essential. Get up, stretch, or go for a walk. Short breaks help your brain reset so you can sit back at your desk fresh minded.

5. Don't do it alone

Revision doesn't have to be solo if you don't want it to. Set up or join a study group, meet up and check in with friends, or just chat to someone who is in the same boat. Share tips, your feelings, memes – whatever keeps you connected.
