The go-to method used by our masterclass chefs 🍚
Rice is a staple student ingredient and can make an affordable base for so many dishes, but it can be a bit tricky to get it right.
Follow along with this easy recipe used by professional chefs to get perfectly fluffy rice every single time - no rice cooker needed!
- Measure out your rice. For one person, fill a regular-sized mug halfway with rice.
- Wash your rice by placing it in a colander and running it under cold water, until the water runs clear.
- Add to a saucepan and add cold water. Using the same mug you used to measure your rice, add twice as much water as your rice (so this would be a whole cup of water to half a mug of rice).
- Add salt and bring the water to a boil.
- Cook until the water has evaporated.
- Turn the heat down to its lowest setting, cover the saucepan with a lid or plate, and let it steam for 3 minutes.
- Now it's ready to serve.
Got leftovers? Let the cooked rice cool completely, put it in a container, and keep it in the fridge overnight. Cold, day-old rice is the secret ingredient for making incredible, non-mushy egg fried rice the next day.
