Trouble connecting to WiFi?

We want you to feel at home when you arrive at university. Whether you're streaming your favourite show or FaceTiming your family for a catch-up, you're going to need WiFi!
Here is a simple guide on our eduroam WiFi for anyone struggling to connect.
New students
- British and Irish students: By connecting to eduroam Wi-Fi, you will automatically complete your in-person registration at the university.
- All other students: Follow the steps given in the new starter checklist to complete registration.
What device are you connecting to?
Note: If you have recently changed your password, forget the eduroam network on your device, then reconnect.
- Go to wi-fi settings on your device and select 'eduroam'
- When prompted for a username, enter your university email address as follows:
- Undergraduates, postgraduate taught students, associates without a university email address: username@nottingham.ac.uk
- Postgraduate researchers who have not previously studied with the university, staff and associates: firstname.lastname@nottingham.ac.uk
Ensure you have installed the latest updates for your device.
- Install the geteduroam app from your app store, then open it.
- Under Institution, search for 'The University of Nottingham'
- Select the '.ac.uk' profile, then select 'Next'
- When prompted for a username, enter your university email address as follows:
- Undergraduates, postgraduate taught students, associates without a university email address: username@nottingham.ac.uk
- Postgraduate researchers who have not previously studied with the university, staff and associates: firstname.lastname@nottingham.ac.uk
Ensure you have installed the latest updates for your device.
- Download and install the eduroam configuration tool
- When prompted for a username, enter your university email address as follows:
- Undergraduates, postgraduate taught students, associates without a university email address: username@nottingham.ac.uk
- Postgraduate researchers who have not previously studied with the university, staff and associates: firstname.lastname@nottingham.ac.uk
Connecting to Wi-Fi in halls
- Ensure you have installed antivirus software and the latest system updates for your device
- Wi-Fi in halls is shared, and your devices may be unintentionally accessible to other students. Ensure you set up the appropriate security access and network sharing options - check your device manufacturer's webpages for this information
'Glide' will be your WiFi network in halls. If you need any support, go to myglidestudent.co.uk.
However, when you are on campus you will need to connect to 'eduroam' WiFi by following the steps above.
If you are in Bonington Student Village, connect to 'eduroam' Wi-Fi - follow the steps at the top of this page to connect. Contact university IT support for help. If you cannot connect to eduroam, connect to 'Ask4' Wi-Fi.
If you are in Nottingham Two or St. Peter's Court, connect to the 'Ask4' Wi-Fi network. For support, email support@ask4.com or phone 0114 303 3232.
Follow the steps at the top of this page to connect to 'eduroam' Wi-Fi.
Some devices, such as game consoles, are not compatible with eduroam. Connect these to 'UoN-Halls' Wi-Fi by following these steps:
- Go to nottingham.campuswifi.net
- Tick the box to agree to the terms, then click 'Continue'
- Your username is your email address. Enter this and your password
- Click 'Generate password'
- A password and QR code will be displayed
- Use the QR code to connect, or search for 'UoN-Halls' and enter the password that is displayed.
Connect to the 'Glide' Wi-Fi network. For support, go to myglidestudent.co.uk.
Follow the steps at the top of this page to connect to 'eduroam' Wi-Fi.

If you are having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi after following these steps, our IT Department (DTS) have assistants who are around on arrivals weekend. Some will be stationary, and some will be roaming about to support you with any Wi-Fi issues.
