Professional chef's easy recipe for the perfect sweet treat!

Who knew cooking a delicious dessert could be so easy? This tiramisu recipe is a great dish to treat yourself throughout your studies – you deserve it!

This summer, we hosted a STUDENT COOKING masterclass for a group of our students to help them develop their skills in the kitchen. Impress your flatmates and friends by following our students as they learn how to recreate this loved Italian dessert from professional chefs below!

Chill: 60 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3-4 ladyfinger biscuits
  • 1 cantucci biscuit, crushed
  • 1/3 cup or 75g mascarpone
  • 1/3 cup or 75g double cream
  • 60ml espresso
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 5ml marsala/rum/Tia Maria (optional)

Method

  1. Whisk the egg yolk with sugar until pale.
  2. Add mascarpone and whisk until smooth. 
  3. In a separate bowl, whip your cream to soft peaks. 
  4. In another bowl, whisk the egg white to stiff peaks.
  5. Fold the double cream into the mascarpone mixture, then fold in the egg white gently.
  6. In a bowl, mix the espresso with the optional liqueur, then dip the ladyfingers quickly (1 second on each side). 
  7. Layer the soaked ladyfingers at the base of a ramekin or glass, then add a layer of the mascarpone cream and repeat. 
  8. Top with cocoa powder and the crushed cantucci biscuit.
  9. Refrigerate for 1 hour for the best texture (optional).
